On Genie screw-drive models, this is often a worn trolley carriage or travel screw coupling. If the screw is turning but the carriage doesn't move, the carriage teeth are stripped and the carriage unit must be replaced.
Aladdin Connect is Genie's built-in Wi-Fi controller. To link it, download the Aladdin Connect app, scan the QR code on the opener chassis, connect to your home Wi-Fi network, and link natively to Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings.
Hold the vehicle HomeLink button and your Genie remote button simultaneously until the HomeLink indicator flashes rapidly. Then, press the Learn button on the Genie motor head, return to your car, and press the HomeLink button three times to pair.
Screw drives use a solid steel threaded rod directly rotating inside the rail to move the door trolley. This eliminates belts or chains completely, providing incredible lifting torque, speed, and long-term mechanical reliability.
A blinking red light on a Genie sensor indicates an obstruction or misalignment, while a solid red light indicates normal power. Clean the lenses, tighten mounting brackets, and realign them until both LEDs remain solid.
Press the Program (PRG) and Up/Down buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the keypad backlights turn off. Enter your new PIN, press Program, and then press the Learn button on your opener to sync the new code.
Genie Intellicode openers feature standard gray, white, or black learn buttons, which signify Intellicode 1 and 2 rolling code frequencies. All Genie remotes are backward compatible across these systems.
