None of that follows from how old Arcadia is. 5,712 of the city’s 20,948 housing units were finished between 1950 and 1959, the largest period in the profile and 2,450 units clear of the 1960s behind it, and the census median build year is 1965 — so a door still on the opening it was hung in has been going up and down for 61 years. But that track was a choice made by whoever installed it, not something the decade handed the house. Two garages of the same vintage a few doors apart can want different hardware, which is why the room above and behind the opening gets measured on arrival rather than assumed from the street.
