Start overhead. The head unit takes building power in at one end and puts its own low-voltage supply out at the other, and that second circuit is the wiring nobody counts as wiring: a thin pair running down each side of the opening to the safety sensors, another pair across the wall to the button, and an aerial off the back of the case for the handsets.
