Identify what your door is doing before you call. If it is one of these, do not keep operating it.
Your torsion spring has snapped under intense torsional load. Forcing the opener to lift the door without spring assistance will burn out the motor or snap the drive belt.
A stripped internal nylon drive gear or a blown starting capacitor. We carry complete carriage gear rebuild kits in our trucks to repair your system immediately.
Don't let a snapped spring, snapped cable, ripped weather seal, or a defective remote keep you locked inside. Our expert teams carry fully stocked dispatch trucks. We regularly perform comprehensive garage door maintenance (inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and component testing) to keep your system safe. We serve Chino and the cities around it.
So the visit starts low and works up. The lift cable on each side ends at a bracket fastened to the end of the bottom section, which is why those two fixings stay where they are until the door is up, blocked, and the counterbalance is off them. It is also the part of the door that meets everything else — the slab, the seal, whatever runs down the driveway, and now and then a car bumper. What we read there first is whether each cable is running true off its drum or pulley and coming down plumb, whether either bottom fixing has drawn out of the stile it is fastened to, and whether the bottom edge is still straight across the opening.
Where a door stops short of the floor, or shuts tight at one end of that edge and shows daylight at the other, there are three answers wearing one symptom: the section, the track it runs in, or concrete that is not flat. A level and a tape separate those on the day. The year the house went up does not.
Which is just as well here, because of what Chino's table will and will not commit to. Of the 28,104 housing units counted in the city, 10,976 were finished before 1980 and 10,392 from 2000 on — 584 apart, against a margin of 1,150 on that difference, so the census will not say which half of the city is the bigger one. It will name a biggest decade — 6,369 of those units date from the 1970s, and that row stands further from each of the nine others than the margin on the comparison. What it will not do is put the two rows behind it in order. The 2010s at 5,055 and the 1980s at 4,773 sit 282 apart on a margin of 759 for that difference, so the lead from the 6,369 in the 1970s reads 1,314 over one of those two and 1,596 over the other. And it separates the quiet stretch in between — the 1990s hold 1,963 units against 4,773 for the 1980s and 4,667 for the 2000s, gaps of 2,810 and 2,704 against margins of 633 and 754 on those two differences. A single decade can lead the table and still leave both of those questions open, and none of the three answers says what is bolted to the bottom of the door at one address.
