New Door Supply, Installation and Old Door Removal

Replacing a garage door is not the same job as fitting one to a new build, and most of ours are replacements. The old door and its hardware come out, the opening gets measured properly, and the new door goes in with its own track, hinges and jamb hardware. The part people are surprised by is the springs: a torsion spring is wound for the weight of one specific door, so a heavier insulated door on the springs that carried a single-layer steel one is out of balance from the first cycle. We specify and fit springs for the door we are installing, re-set the opener travel and force to the new weight, seal the perimeter, and take the old door away.

Garage Door Installation Features

Premium Service Standards

We use heavy-duty components and certified engineering to deliver safety and silent travel.

⚙️

Springs Sized to the Door

New springs specified for the weight of the door going in, not the one coming out. An unbalanced new door wears its opener from day one.

🚛

Old Door Removed

We take the old door, track and hardware away with us. Nothing is left in the driveway for you to deal with.

🏠

Insulated or Single Layer

Steel-back polyurethane, foam-injected, or single-layer steel. If the garage is conditioned or shares a wall with a bedroom, insulation is doing more than saving energy.

🔌

Your Opener, If It Is Sound

A working opener does not have to be replaced with the door. We re-set its limits and force for the new weight and test the safety reverse.

Safety First

Symptom Checker & Diagnostic Focus

Identify your garage door issues early to avoid costly secondary damage.

MEDIUM

Rust or Rot Through the Bottom Panels

Doctor’z Diagnosis:

The bottom section takes the standing water and the road salt, and once it has corroded through, the panel no longer carries the load the bottom brackets put into it. A single panel can be swapped; a rotted bottom section usually means the door.

Urgency: MEDIUM (Book a measure and quote)

The Same Door Has Been Repaired Over and Over

Doctor’z Diagnosis:

Hinges, rollers, one panel, then another. Each repair is reasonable on its own, and at some point the sum of them is a new door with none of the benefits. When the sections themselves are fatigued, new hardware is being bolted to metal that has stopped being straight.

Urgency: LOW (Compare a quote against the next repair)

HIGH

A Kinked or Bowed Section After an Impact

Doctor’z Diagnosis:

A door that has been backed into does not travel straight afterwards. The section is out of plane, so the rollers load unevenly against the track and the whole door binds. Straightening a kinked section is not a repair that holds.

Urgency: HIGH (The door is loading its track unevenly)

A Single-Layer Door on a Garage You Actually Use

Doctor’z Diagnosis:

A single-layer steel door is a sheet of metal between the garage and the weather. If the garage is conditioned, used as a workshop, or shares a wall with a bedroom, an insulated door changes how the space behaves as well as what it costs to heat.

Urgency: LOW (Schedule a consultation)

The Door Works and You Want a Different One

Doctor’z Diagnosis:

Not every replacement is a fault. A full-view glass door, a carriage-house overlay or a flush modern panel changes the front of the house more than anything else at the same cost, because the door is usually the largest single element on the elevation.

Garage Door Installation FAQ

Got Questions About Garage Door Installation?

Find details and upfront price guidelines from our expert technician team.

Do I have to replace my opener when I replace the door?

No, not if the opener is sound. What does have to change is its setup: the travel limits and the force settings were learned against the old door, and a new door of a different weight needs both re-set and the safety reverse re-tested. We do that as part of the installation. The one case where the opener has to be looked at seriously is a much heavier insulated door going onto an opener that was already at the edge of what it could lift.

Can my existing springs be reused on the new door?

Almost never, and it is the detail that separates a proper installation from a fast one. A torsion spring is wound to counterbalance the weight of one specific door. Put a heavier insulated door on springs sized for a single-layer steel one and the door is out of balance on its first cycle: it wants to close, the opener carries the difference, and the whole system wears from the wrong end. New springs are specified for the door going in.

What happens to my old garage door?

It leaves with us, along with the old track, hinges and brackets. That is part of the job rather than an extra, and it is worth asking about anywhere you get a quote, because a door left in the driveway is a disposal problem you did not budget for.

How do you work out what size door I need?

We measure the opening itself, then the headroom above it and the backroom behind it, because those two decide which track configuration will fit. A standard lift needs headroom the low-headroom track does not, and it is the measurement people most often discover late. Nothing gets ordered off a rough width.

Is an insulated door worth it if my garage is not heated?

Sometimes. The insulation is doing two jobs, and only one of them is energy. A foam-filled section is stiffer than a single sheet of steel, so it is quieter, it flexes less in wind, and it dents less easily. If the garage is unheated, detached and used for storage, single-layer steel is a perfectly honest choice.

Do I need a new opener if I am going from a single door to a double?

Probably, and for a reason worth understanding. A wider door is heavier, and it also travels a different distance, so both the lifting capacity and the rail length come into it. We would rather tell you that at the measure than discover it on installation day.
